Accra, Ghana — Gender Centre for Empowering Development (GenCED) has officially launched the Gender Election Watch Situation Room, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at monitoring and reporting on gender-related issues during elections in Ghana.
About the Initiative
The Gender Election Watch Situation Room is designed to provide real-time monitoring of electoral processes from a gender perspective. This initiative will track incidents of violence against women in elections, monitor women’s participation at all levels of the electoral process, and provide rapid response to gender-related electoral issues.
Objectives
The Situation Room aims to:
- Monitor and document gender-based violence during elections
- Track women’s participation as voters, candidates, and election officials
- Provide real-time data on gender-related electoral incidents
- Advocate for gender-responsive electoral policies
